In reply to the Former Prime Minister Najib Razak’s Statement:
The PAC will carry out the duty entrusted by Parliament professionally. The PAC has announced earlier today that we will commence investigations on 1MDB and also the “missing” RM19.4billion GST Refund sum.
The PAC is chaired by a member of the Opposition, which is first in the nation history. The members comprises of those from both Government and Oppositions representatives. We had two briefings in the past two days and we are committed to carry out our duty irrespective of our different political standings.
Our duty is to find out the facts and deliver the truth on matters that are affecting the people’s interest. One of the matter which warrant investigation shall be 1MDB which had made the nation to be infamously known as a Global Kleptocracy.
Najib said Harapan should focus on developing the country. Let me remind Najib that there is no conflict between finding truths and development of the nation. It will be a great national disservice if we do not re-open the probe on 1MDB and deliver the long-outstanding truths to the People. The former Prime Minister should stop his attempt to paint a perception that the Harapan Government is only focusing on finding faults as alleged and not contributing to the nation development.
