The Selangor Hudud issue will prove if MCA and Gerakan leaders are people who say what they mean or they are just politicians who practise double standards, demanding DAP to do what they dare not ask UMNO to do

The Selangor hudud issue will be the acid test for MCA and Gerakan leaders to prove they are people who say what they mean or they are just politicians who practice double standards, demanding DAP to do what they dare not ask Umno to do.

Despite the fact that it was the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Jamil Khir who had on March 27 in Parliament instigated PAS to present a Private Member’s Bill on hudud laws, MCA and Gerakan have failed to whack Umno but have gone on an aggressive publicity campaign against the DAP leaders.

For the last one month via Chinese media , MCA leaders have been making all types of falsehood and lies, including character assassination and personal attacks against DAP leaders although DAP has repeatedly publicly stated our stand that DAP will oppose the implementation of hudud in Malaysia.

Yesterday, it was reported that Umno Selangor Assemblyman for Sungai Air Tawar Kamarol Zaki Abdul Malik had submitted a motion to the forthcoming Selangor State Assembly beginning next week pushing for the implementation of hudud law .

I challenge MCA and Gerakan leaders to state if they will now immediately quit BN coalition since they have been demanding that DAP should immediately quit Pakatan Rakyat over PAS’s intention to present Private Member’s Bill in Parliament.

Now that the Selangor Umno assemblyman has officially submitted a motion, if MCA and Gerakan truly believe in what they say, then they must now immediately declare that they will quit BN.

But will they? I have no doubt that not only will they not quit the BN coalition but they will go down on their knees to readily accept the Prime Minister’s offer to return to Cabinet in the Cabinet reshuffle expected soon.

I also wish to remind MCA leaders the two things which they had said earlier

Firstly, MCA Youth had threatened to surround the Parliament if PAS tables the Bill in Parliament. Will they now surround Selangor state Assembly if the Umno motion is tabled?

Secondly, MCA Vice President Datuk Paduka Chew Mei Fun had previously challenged DAP leaders to repeat Karpal Singh’s “Islamic state, over my dead body” phrase to express opposition to hudud. If MCA believe that this is a suitable and clearest way to express a party’s stand against hudud, then I will ask if they will now tell Umno “Hudud, over my dead body”.
