UMNO needs to reign-in Jamal, otherwise UMNO implicated in Bersih linked violence

This is certainly deplorable. And it’s about time red shirt leader, Jamal Md Yunos, is reprimanded for bullying Bersih members and supporters.

While it’s within his democratic right to oppose Bersih’s planned rally next month and the torch-bearing convoy, grabbing banners cannot be condoned.

This was the second incident between the red shirts and the Bersih convoy travelling from Lumut, as earlier they were accosted by some red shirts on 30 to 40 motorcycles.

According to Malaysiakini reports, gang of red shirts were said to have tailed the convoy, pulling flags from convoy vehicles, kicking the cars and punching their vehicles’ side mirrors.

This is hooliganism and amount to a threat as well.

Jamal is an UMNO leader and as such it’s also the responsibility of his party to rein in his unruly behaviour.

Failure by the ruling party to do so can only mean that UMNO leaders are also in cahoots with Jamal and his gang of goons.

The police must also investigate Jamal’s thuggish behaviour and that of his gang’s as they are always quick to clamp down on the federal Opposition leaders and human rights workers.

It’s about time Jamal learns that he must be accountable for his conduct and can’t always be let off the hook.
