I urge YAB Chief Minister to completely retire from politics; he ought not to accept the appointment as TYT on the following 3 reasons:
1. Taib Mahmud has been given sole discretionary power to name his successor, this will be conflicting of interest for his appointment as TYT.
TYT is appointed by Yang di-Pertuan Agong acting at his discretion but after consultation with the Chief Minister (Article 1(1) Sarawak Constitution). Therefore as far as the appointment of TYT is concern, consultation from Chief Minister is a constitutional one. Since YAB Pehin Sri Taib Mahmud has been given sole discretionary power to name his successor, who will eventually consult Yang di-petuan Agong on appointment of TYT, there will be a clear suspicion of conflict of interest of him when comes to the appointment of him as TYT. Taib Mahmud may only want to pick on a person to be CM who will eventually name him as TYT.
2. MACC has yet to complete the probe against him
MACC had carried out investigation against Pehin Sri Taib Mahmud since 2 years ago. The investigation has yet to be completed.
YAB Pehin Sri, if he is appointed as TYT, could be the 1st head of State in the history of our Country who is still subjected to the probe of MACC.
3. Violating Sarawak Constitution.
Pursuant to Article 2(2) Sarawak State Constitution, TYT shall not hold any office of profit and shall not actively engage in any commercial enterprise. YAB Pehin Sri is a director in Mesti Bersatu Sdn Bhd which involves actively in investment holding businesses.
