MCA President Wee Ka Siong has once again spoken without checking the facts. He claimed the government should create a system for people to return the RM100 aid, even though the Prime Minister already explained that any unused funds will automatically be returned to the government after 31 December.
The policy is clear. Wee chose to ignore it and made a misleading statement just to stay in the spotlight. As a former minister and current MP, it is unacceptable for him to misunderstand such a simple matter.
People have every right to ask whether he is being careless or just desperate for attention. If he keeps acting like this, he might as well accept the title of “Headline President”.
When Malaysians are struggling with rising costs, we need serious leaders. The SARA aid is a fair and one-off assistance. Those who do not need it can simply leave it untouched and the money will go back to help others.
It is fine to criticise the government, but it must be based on facts. Spreading confusion is not leadership. It is just noise.
