I refer to the statement made by inspector general of police, Tan Sri Khalid bin Abu Bakar today that the police intends to investigate me under section 298 of the Penal Code and also Sedition Act 1948 over the alleged Facebook posting of a cartoon that purportedly shows disrespect to Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
At all material time I have never uploaded and/or drawn the said cartoon, instead I am a victim of cyber troopers who are engaged by a certain party with vested interest in a smear campaign against the DAP.
I respect Islam as the religion of the federation and I am determined to uphold the principles enshrined in our Federal constitution as a member of parliament.
The police should spend their precious time to combat heinous crime instead of diverting their attention to harass elected representatives. Nevertheless, I am prepared to assist the police in their investigation if needed be.
I hope this statement is enough to clear the air and put an end to this issue.
