I have met the late Tok Guru Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat a couple of times and in the most recent meeting which was a few years back, he had said to me very clearly and firmly that PAS and Pakatan Rakyat must never trust Umno because Umno leaders would do anything just to cling on to power.
Tok Guru was also reportedly was saying that PAS shall never be bitten by the same snake twice as PAS had enough of the bitter experience in the late 1970s which PAS had gone through when the party was booted out by Umno.
I am therefore shocked and puzzled at the same time to hear a few PAS leaders making “revelations” now, after Tok Guru’s death, that Tok Guru welcomed the co-operation between PAS and Umno.
I also recall in the Pakatan Rakyat Convention in Shah Alam in December 2009 when the late Tok Guru had asked Umno, “Nak pinang lagi?” which means “Do you want to woo us again?”.
I think people know the truth especially PAS members when the current top PAS leaders had failed to explain why when Tok Guru Nik Aziz was still alive, he had never said a word publicly about PAS needing to collaborate with Umno.
On the contrary we can find many media statements he made that PAS would never work with Umno because Umno could never be trusted.
Why are some PAS leaders still insist on working with Umno? Are they not abandoning the ideals envisaged by the late Tok Guru Nik Aziz?
