Why does Tengku Adnan seek assistance from Chinese Government to gain back Chinese support to BN?

It was reported in today’s Sin Chew Daily that the Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Mansor said that he hoped the Chinese government can help to tell the Malaysian Chinese the contribution of the Malaysian government to the nation over the last 57 years.

He also said at yesterday’s official opening of the China Malaysia Friendship Garden in Putrajaya that the Malaysian government emphasized stability and has brought much development to the nation, but the people often forget what the government has done.

China’s Ambassador to Malaysia Dr Huang Hui Kang was present at the function.

After reading his comments, the first thought that comes to my mind is why has the BN government become so pathetic that it has to ask a foreign government to help in regaining political support of its own citizens?

Has the BN government lost total confidence in the ability of MCA, Gerakan and SUPP to regain the Chinese support?

Tengku Adnan’s comments are not acceptable and will make BN a political joke.

Firstly, Malaysian Chinese are citizens of Malaysia and they do not need Chinese government to give them any advice or instruction. They have the right to support which ever political party they wish.

Secondly, the Chinese government will just ignore what Tengku Adnan has said as it knows it has no right and business to tell Malaysian Chinese voters what to do.

If BN is serious in wanting to regain the support of the Chinese community, the first thing it should do is not to make silly statements like “people often forget what the government has done”.

Such tactic of implying or blaming voters as ungrateful people will only cause anger and further erosion of support.

It is undeniable that when BN suffered badly in the 2008 and 2013 general elections, the loss of Chinese support was a very significant factor.

BN must know what the Chinese want or it will never be able to regain their support.
