Will the deep state dare to derail PH’s plan to abolish the draconian provisions in SOSMA?

I welcome the announcement by the Prime Minister and Pakatan Harapan (PH) presidential council that SOSMA and other draconian laws will be amended soon to avoid further abuses.

In fact, PH has always been committed to reform oppressive laws. This was part of our pledge in our election manifesto. Since forming the new government, the government has established the Special Committee and a Technical Committee to review such laws, and their recommendations have been submitted to the cabinet.

Based on the latest announcement by the Prime Minister and PH president council, these reforms may take place as soon as during the current parliamentary session.

However, recent events have also shown that there are various forces that are against reform. The “deep state’, in particular, has been actively trying to destabilise and sabotage PH and the government.

For example, PH has recently denounced the attempt by Hishammuddin Hussein to form a backdoor government. SOSMA has been used to sabotage the government by victimising DAP leaders who are alleged to be “terrorists”. The establishment on the IPCMC has been delayed again although the IGP and police has expressed support for it. Race and religion are being used to instigate anger against the government.

All these points to a concerted effort to destabilise the PH government and derail its development and reform plans.

Therefore, I urge all Malaysians to continue supporting the PH government, especially the Prime Minister, Home Minister, and IGP, so that the reform on SOSMA can happen without further delays.

We must remain united to prevent a small minority of deep state operatives from harming the democratic processes in our country. Let it be warned to the deep state that they are no longer hidden in the background, and stern action should be taken against them if they continue to derail the government.
