With the swearing in of the 13 Pakatan Harapan (PH) cabinet ministers yesterday, Malaysia ushers in a new leadership, one that is guided on the principles of competency, accountability and transparency.

PH promises a clean government, and anti-corruption is on the top of our priorities. Voters all over the country brought down the old Barisan Nasional regime as they could no longer tolerate corruption. Corruption cannot and will not be tolerated under the new government. The effects of corruption are long reaching and affects all Malaysians.

I will seek to amend and improve the Whilstleblower Protection Act 2010 to offer real protection to whistleblowers and to successfully root out corruption in Malaysia.

I call upon civil servants to be clean in this new administration. Stern and drastic action will be taken against anyone caught involved in corrupt practices. I urge all civil servants to stay on the straight and narrow and do the right thing. Their honesty and integrity will be recognised and rewarded.
