All Malaysians must demand a full accounting of the details of the usage of the government jet, the purpose of the trips as well as the cost and expenses incurred

Rizal Mansor is wrong.

Malaysians do not have issues with the family time between the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak with his son Norashman Najib. What Malaysians want is accountability and for Najib Razak to explain using the government jet to fly around the world at the cost and expense of the People.

In his comment about Norashman’s Instagram photo when he was cycling with his father Najib Razak, the aide to Rosmah Mansor had reportedly said:

“Like other people, they want to do activities together. More so because they are very close. But constraints due to the father’s duties meant that it was impossible for such activities on a regular basis. They can only spend time together when the father is on holiday.”

Rizal Mansor has conveniently missed out a very important point in this issue, i.e. whether there is any misuse of power by Prime Minister Najib Razak in flying around the world with his family on a private jet for non-official purposes.

Deputy Home Minister Nur Jazlan Mohamed may have answered the aforesaid question in the negative. However, he has failed to furnish any documentary proof of Najib’s such rights and entitlement.

Najib Razak’s government jet 9M-NAA, which was previously exposed when flying across Hawaii, Los Angeles, Indianapolis, New York. London, Dubai and Bangkok after Najib’s return from his Obama golf trip in Hawaii using a Royal Malaysian Air Force jet in December 2014, can no longer be tracked on flightaware.com after the Australia vacation incident.

Why is there a need to remove data from flight tracking sites if there is nothing to hide, more so at a time that coincides with the exposure of Najib’s vacation with his family in Australia? Is it because more similar incidents will take place when 9M-NAA is removed from the tracking sites?

No one will ever question the usage of the government jet if the people are convinced and assured of the integrity of their leaders. However, this is not the case currently when the nation is being faced with the twin mega scandals of the multi-billion-ringgit “donation” and 1MDB, on top of being regarded worldwide as a global kleptocracy.

All Malaysians must demand a full accounting of the details of the usage of the government jet, the purpose of the trips as well as the cost and expenses incurred. This information should be made available to the public at least on a quarterly basis by the relevant authorities.
