Zahid’s hands are now freed, when will the Perkasa Christmas Bannner ripping culprit be arrested?

It is five days after the Perkasa Christmas Banner ripping and yet noone has been arrested by the police. On Sunday, Home Minister Zahid Hamidi said that his hands are tied unless DAP Perak or any concerned party lodged a report.

Zahid’s claim is not only irresponsible but a poor attempt to wash his hands off the insensitive and provoking action which will threaten the religious harmony in Malaysia. It has been proven by the many incidents involving Pakatan Rakyat leaders that the police does not need a report to be lodged to take action. When a Perkasa member broke the law, why does the police need a report to be lodged?

Let us take Zahid’s claim at face value that the police needs a report to be lodged to take further action. This morning, DAP Perak has lodged a police report in Ipoh led by Tebing Tinggi State Assemblyman Ong Boon Piow. With a police report lodged, Zahid’s hands are now freed, when will the Perkasa Christmas Banner ripping culprit be arrested?

It is clear that laws were broken and crime has been committed in the Perkasa Christmas Banner ripping incident. If the culprits are allowed to roam free after breaking the law and committing crime, Malaysians have every reason to fear for their safety.

Are there greater powers behind Perkasa that their members now enjoy absolute immunity from prosecution and could take the laws into their own hand?
