Barisan Nasional candidate for DUN N.23 Bukit Semuja may have broken election rules

We have reasons to believe that the Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate has committed an election offence in the N23 Bukit Semuja state constituency (DUN).

Yesterday morning, we received a complaint from local residents that BN posters with the vote (X) BN logo was put up with photo of individual who is not contesting in the Bukit Semuja DUN.

The person in the said photo is Tan Sri Adenan Satem, the BN candidate for DUN N.03 Tanjong Datu. The BN candidate for DUN Bukit Semuja is John Illus, and his photo is not in the said poster.

We have lodged a formal complaint on this issue to the Returning Officer of the Election Commission (EC) at the Serian District Office at 4.30pm, 28 April 2016.

I urge the EC to act fairly, investigate and take strict and quick action on this matter.

I also urge SPR to remove the said posters at the soonest.

Adenan Satem himself showed lack of confidence for BN candidates

Besides committing election offence, we believe that BN is using such tactics to confuse the voters in Bukit Semuja.

The BN candidate for Bukit Semuja is said to be not popular nor well-received by the locals. Hence, BN had to resort to using such tactics to gain votes for him.

BN touted this Sarawak state election as an election to choose Adenan Satem to be the Chief Minister. It is obvious that Adenan Satem himself has no confidence for other BN candidates and had to use his own popularity as Chief Minister to campaign on their behalf.

Why didn’t BN field better candidates and had to depend on confusion tactics to win votes for their substandard candidates? Does this also means, even if they win, these BN candidates will not be able to serve their own respective constituencies?

If they have no courage to even show their faces now, BN candidates will not dare to fight GST and UMNO

This Sarawak state election is not to choose Adenan Satem as Chief Minister. He will still be Chief Minister after the election.

Conversely, this election is for the people of Sarawak to choose whether it is a “Yes to GST” or “No to GST”.

If Barisan Nasional candidates do not even dare to show their faces on their own election posters, and had to hide behind the Chief Minister’s photo, surely they will not dare to fight GST or the oppressive UMNO and Barisan Nasional regime.
