BN should win with honour or lose with grace by sticking to issues and not stoop to character assassination against a young lady lawyer with sexist overtones and falsehoods. Instead of talking about price hikes, GST and corruption that impacts negatively on the rakyat, BN is making ferocious personal attacks to tear down the character of DAP candidate for Teluk Intan Dyana Sofya.
From questioning her qualifications as a lawyer, to her looks including wearing a bikini, and even calling her a liar and cry-baby who needs a pacifier, this level of hatred and gutter politics is unprecedented in a by-election. Penang Gerakan Chairman Teng Chang Yeow should be ashamed for his name-calling of Dyana as a “3N” candidate – “no integrity, no honesty and no sincerity”, when he has been rejected twice by voters in Penang in the 2008 and 2013 general elections, precisely because Teng has no integrity, no honesty and no sincerity.
Gerakan party advisor Chang Ko Youn lambasts Dyana Sofya over her inconsistent stand on hudud when she had expressed support for the DAP’s stand of not opposing hudud in Islam but opposing the implementation of hudud laws in Malaysia because it is unconstitutional. Dyana’s stand is better than UMNO leaders who want to implement hudud laws.
The worst personal attacks came from Penang Gerakan Youth and Kedah Menteri Besar Mukhriz Mahathir. Dyana Sofya was mocked for her apparent dependance on DAP leader Lim Kit Siang, and Gerakan said that if Dyana will cry without Lim around, she can get a pacifier from Gerakan. This is horrible! Mukhriz also attacked Dyana for her personal appearance.
Is BN so desperate that they have to go down to such level in a desperate bid to avoid explaining the issue of price hikes of sugar, petrol, electricity and motor insurance premiums as well as the gangsterism of UMNO members who use violence in intruding the Penang State Assembly as well as attacking and threatening to burn DAP offices in Kuala Lumpur and Kuantan?
By resorting to such dishonest tactics, BN have shown that they are not fit to rule Malaysia. DAP calls on the voters of Teluk Intan to reject such gutter politics by rejecting BN on Saturday, 31 May 2014. Teluk Intan voters should represent the whole nation in wanting real change that allows every Malaysian to take part, especially women and youth, so that we can protect our future from being stolen.
