Challenge the MACC to show us that they are serious when it comes to investigations relating to the RM2.6 billion in the Prime Ministers account

I challenge the MACC to show us that they are serious when it comes to investigations relating to the RM2.6 billion in the Prime Ministers account.

The MACC must not betray the trust placed in them by Parliament. They must do their job effectively without fear or favour.

As Member of Parliament, I demand that they now walk the talk. They must demonstrate that they are fair in their dealings with everyone and that they do not practice double standards.

When it came to a matter of RM2400, the MACC acted immediately. They hauled in Teoh Beng Hock and kept him at their offices until the early morning of the next day. They subjected him to intense interrogation and he was not given access to his lawyers.

So what are they waiting for now that they have confirmed that they will question the Prime Minister over the so called RM2.6 billion in his account?

There is no point in making public statements which generate sympathy alone and they shouldn’t be afraid.

The MACC is a creature of statute. It has wide powers, including powers of arrest and detention for the purposes of investigations. There are also provisions in place for the MACC to deal with those who interfere with its work.

What then are they waiting for?
