I was shocked with Custom Department director-general T. Subromaniam’s statement that accused the documents submitted by 12 Local Councils in Selangor as dubious. This is not only crazy but is also an insult to all the councils’ servants. Subromaniam should justify his statement which i found it so ridiculous and am curious with his remarks. Why should the Local Council ‘create’ false claims by paying the 6% GST and then submit for refund? Is there nothing better to do?
Since Subromaniam said the claims were false, I would like to challenge him to bring the matter to court and let the court decide. We shall know who is telling lies by then. If you dare not so, apologize publicly for your insulting remarks and please return our money immediately.
The Custom Department should act professionally in handling GST refunds. They should inform the Local Council in writing and ask for supporting documents if there is any doubt rather than holding the refund. This shows that they are not serious in returning the refundable taxes to their customers.
