DAP welcomes the announcement made by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak that an agreement has been achieved with the pro-Russian separatists in Ukraine on the return of bodies from the MH17 crash site and the aircraft’s black boxes to Malaysia. Najib said that the agreement was brokered with Alexander Borodai, the self-proclaimed Prime Minister of the pro-Russia east Ukraine separatist group controlling the Donestk region where MH17 fell.
Borodai also gave assurances that the international investigation team will be granted access to the crash site. DAP agrees with Najib that in conflict regions with divided authority, engaging in diplomatic channels quietly are best employed to achieve the desired results.
DAP is willing to stand together with the Federal government to support their efforts to bring back the bodies to their families so that a decent and dignified burial can be conducted as well as vigorously pursue investigations to ensure that justice can be done against the perpetrators for the innocent lives lost.
