DAPSY Supports Civil Society’s Call for Corporate Mafia RCI and Hands Off NGO Rally

1. DAP Socialist Youth (DAPSY) Malaysia fully supports and answers the call by civil society organisations (CSOs) to gather peacefully in a demonstration backing the establishment of a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) into the corporate mafia allegations, as well as the Hands Off NGOs campaign.

2. DAPSY leaders and members will attend the rally, scheduled for Sunday, 27 September 2026 at 3pm in front of SOGO, Kuala Lumpur, to show our solidarity with civil society activists and NGOs.

3. This is consistent with DAP’s firm stance of repeatedly and publicly calling for an RCI into the corporate mafia. This position has also been stated by DAP’s Secretary-General and Chairman.

4. In line with the party’s official stance, DAPSY will continue bringing this critical issue to the public’s attention by whatever means necessary, including peaceful assemblies and street demonstrations.

5. If there really are “invisible hands”, or masterminds shielding abuse of power and corruption across the country’s sectors, they must be fully exposed without fear or favour. A transparent investigation through an RCI is the only way to clean up our key national institutions and restore their credibility.

6. DAPSY also holds that civil society activists and NGOs should be seen as partners in the national reform process. They should not be treated as enemies and silenced through the use of particular laws.

7. As long as criticisms from social activists and NGOs do not inflame racial or religious sentiment, their views and outspoken criticism should be welcomed and accepted as constructive feedbacks in the interest of building a more progressive and inclusive Malaysia.

8. History has also shown that without the support, courage and public education efforts of NGOs and civil society activists, major national scandals such as 1MDB could never have been exposed, nor could those responsible have been brought to justice as we see today.

9. The role of NGOs and civil society activists in informing the public is therefore a key pillar of national accountability. It is also a catalyst for delivering the Reformasi agenda, in line with the core principles of the Madani Government.

10. On the principles of free speech, social justice and institutional reform, DAPSY once again affirms its firm support for this rally. We call on all Malaysians who value justice and freedom of expression to join us and take a stand.
