It was reported in today’s Sin Chew Jit Poh that Deputy Health Minister Datuk Hilmi Yahya, while speaking at a function in Melaka, had said the following remarks:
“Berish 4.0 rally could only last one day, unlike the Thailand demonstration which lasted more than one month, because the young participants could not stand the heat of the Sun”.
A few Barisan Nasional leaders who are in a state of denial and refuse to listen to the people have waged criticism and attacks against the Berish 4.0 rally, before and after the event.
But Hilmi’s comments are of the lowest standard.
If he thinks that he can insult the participants with such shocking remarks, he has actually insulted himself because he has shown others that he has the “foot in mouth “disease.
Before the 34 hour long rally was held, there were all types of attacks on the organizers, yet after the rally was peacefully and successfully held, Hilmi has now waged a different attack.
In fact, yesterday he also repeated the similar attacks which were waged against the event. He was quoted to say that the rally would bring negative impact to the country etc, yet he at the same time said that the rally could only last one day.
Was he trying to throw a challenge to the participants to do a one month long rally? If he is serious about it, then let him do two things first, firstly to obtain the Prime Minister’s nod for such a challenge, and secondly, get the Police to agree to officially allow the rally to be held.
Instead of waging attacks and hurling insults at the participants, BN leaders should listen to the voices of the people.
Datuk Seri Najib should not forget that he once said that the era that the government knows best is over. He and the government leaders should listen to the people.
