Federal Territories Minister, Tengku Adnan Mansor should be man enough to face Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI) voters if he still insists the enormous posh condominium project in Rimba Kiara Park is good for the neighbourhood and benefitting the residents.

This has been a sore point with residents of this largest parliamentary constituency in Kuala Lumpur, Segambut – the rape of a city green park in Taman Rimba Kiara in TTDI. Residents had earlier fought the case in court, and lost in an initial state. They then petitioned the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak to stop the project.

Tengku Adnan (Ku Nan) should not be putting his deputy minister Dr. Loga Bala Mohan for Segambut constituency, which will be contested by Pakatan Harapan’s first-time parliamentary candidate, Hannah Yeoh (DAP).

As Umno secretary-general, surely Ku Nan should not be contesting in one of the smallest parliamentary seats in the country, Putrajaya. It is too small for his ego as a full-fledged minister and Barisan Nasional Federal Territory chairman.

I, therefore, challenge Ku Nan not to be overconfident and rest on his laurels; instead, he should swap seats with his deputy, Loga, by standing as the BN candidate for Segambut.

If he doesn’t even dare to contest in Segambut, the constituency where he lives, he should announce the immediate termination of the condominium project in Rimba Kiara as adhering to the universal principle of good governance where people are the bosses of the government, and not vice versa.

This dictatorial massive concrete project of a 2,000-unit high end condominium by Tengku Adnan, the head of Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan, was done without prior consultations and consensus of the majority of TTDI residents. Once completed, residents fear that housing development would create traffic congestion in their housing estate.

The development features eight blocks of high-end serviced apartments (between 42- and 54-storey high), and a 29-storey block comprising 350 affordable housing units for the relocation of TTDI longhouse folk.
