I guess this is an arrest that we all see coming, especially with all the different evidence accumulated allegedly pointing against him.
This would not have happened if the people did not vote for change in 509 and restored the democratic process in our country. This is a beginning of the result of the victory by the people.
But it is a beginning of a long process and also a long trial.
It’s good to take note that this trial is only about the SRC International part or better known as the RM2.6 billion ‘donation’ into his personal account. Even with that, he is reported to face up to even 3 different CBT charges based on this alone.
This has not include the case of 1MDB itself and other alleged dubious ‘sub-transactions within 1MDB’ itself.
And with Scorpene and Altantuya case reopening, there will be a possibility that more charges will be laid upon him and many others that are involved, including those in his immediate circle. Let me put it this way, I doubt anyone would want to be in his shoes right now.
While I hope for a fair and quick trial, what is more important is the people that are responsible for this to face justice, but also for the money that was allegedly stolen to be return to the people.
With the reported figures hitting billions, that public money could have been used for the direct benefit of the people including Sarawak where there is a great need for greater development or even funds to repair our dilapidated schools and clinics.
This is a sign of our intention as PH to clean up the cancer in our society which is corruption. We will stop here, but will keep pushing for more investigation into alleged corrupy practices even in Sarawak and people responsible should face justice
