Human Resource Minister, Datuk Seri M. Saravanan must prepare a big hall to accommodate the hundreds if not thousands of employers or their representatives who will be attending the meeting between him, Lim Guan Eng, MP forBagan and myself on 5th October 2022. I have received overwhelming support to become witnesses of the multitude of weaknesses in the Human Resource Ministry when Datuk Seri M. Saravanan challenged Lim Guan Eng and me to prove the weaknesses in his ministry.
However, many are skeptical if they will be there to listen to another lie by Datuk Seri M. Saravanan.
Datuk Seri M. Saravanan must give effect to his challenge by promising the following :
- To immediately approve the applications made by the employers for the foreign workers quota which they qualify to get but failed due to the weaknesses in the Human Resource Ministry.
- He will resign as a Minister as promised once the weaknesses in his ministry have been proven.
Datuk Seri M. Saravanan has been known to spew out lies shamelessly.
On 29th July 2022 his ministry announced that commencing 1st August 2022 the interview for the application for foreign workers quota will be conducted at the Human Resource Ministry offices at the respective states and for Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan the interview will be conducted at Putrajaya. The interviews at the respective states were conducted for a while but stopped without notice to the public and the interviews were once again conducted only at the ministry’s Putrajaya office causing huge inconvenience to the employers. Employers from distant states have to travel many hours to Putrajaya for the interview which is unnecessary as nothing new is asked not contained the application documents and often over minor matters employers have to travel again and again to the Human Resource Ministry at Putrajaya to attend to their applications.
On 26th July 2022, he also told a blatant lie in Parliament that the application for foreign workers quota can be done online without having to go through an agent.
I have proven to him that it was impossible for employers to get the approval for foreign workers quota due to the various obstacles at the Human Resource Ministry and the Home Ministry without the help of an agent who has internal contacts in the ministries and that some people in his ministry were collecting RM1500-00 per foreign worker before an interview is granted. The complaints by employers having to pay to get the appointment for an interview was also reported in the Star newspaper on 5th August 2022 (Friday).
He also lied when he said that I brought up this issue for personal interest when this problem is so wide spread. As a Member of Parliament, I have to bring up this issue when employers bring it to my attention.
Yesterday’s news reported that the government has to opt for a Government to Government (G to G) arrangement to bring in 10,000 Bangladeshi workers. This goes to show Datuk Seri M Saravanan’s failure in his job after so many months trying to bring in Bangladeshi workers through private agencies.
I call on Datuk Seri M. Saravanan to issue the above said 2 promises immediately to give credence to the meeting on 5th October 2022 as his credibility is in doubt. We want to ensure that the 5th October 2022 meeting is to prove the weaknesses in his ministry and for him to resign as a Minister and not to hear another lie from him.
