I would like to thank the party for giving me this opportunity to serve the people of Penang as well as the nation in the Dewan Negara.
I have been a member of DAP for almost 20 years since 1999 and have served in various capacities within the Penang State Committee including State Secretary and Vice-Chairman. I consider it an honour and a heavy responsibility to now serve as a Senator representing Penang.
I am greatly humbled by this appointment and will do my utmost best to ensure that the Dewan Negara remains an important component of the legislative process. The role is even more critical now as the Pakatan Harapan government seeks to implement its reform agenda over the next few years.
Two decades of experience in political campaigning over four general elections have equipped me with the insight and knowledge to discern the best policies for Malaysia. Our country is made up of many different cultures and it is very important that we approach every policy with a reflection of our different sensitivities.
Over the years, I have been actively engaging all levels of society, from grassroot to the top, understanding their needs and striking a balance. My ideal dream of Malaysia is one of a country where every citizen regardless of race and religion is proud to call home.
I will always be grateful for the many years that I have served the party, and I pledge to give my all, both to the party and to the people of Penang and Malaysia.
