A New Harvest For Sabah and Sarawak
The DAP wishes all Kadazandusun and Dayak people both Selamat Hari Kaamatan and Selamat Hari Gawai. The party and all Malaysians join the people of Sabah and Sarawak in celebrating a year of bountiful harvest.
There is also a new harvest for Sabahans and Sarawakians following the astounding victory of Pakatan Harapan in the recent general elections, ending the 61 years old rule of Barisan Nasional. Just as Merdeka freed Malaya from British colonialism in 1957 so that Malaysians including Sabahans and Sarawakians free Malaysia from oppression, injustice and corruption.
Our country is entering a new phase in its history where there is now a once in a lifetime opportunity to create a more just and a more equitable union between Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak. The new Malaysia offers a new harvest for Sabah and Sarawak a more equal, fair and respectful relationship that is mindful of the history of Sabah and Sarawak’s contribution to establish Malaysia.
Pakatan Harapan is committed to fulfilling our promises in our election manifesto when the financial situation is restored and is more favourable. Unfortunately, the previous government have left us with a RM1 trillion debt to pay which has strained our finances severely. Pakatan Harapan feels the government has taken concrete steps to overcome the fiscal issues and are confident that we overcome these economic challenges with the
support of all Malaysians.
