The DAP delegation to China led by Lim Kit Siang had paid a visit to Inspur Group in Ji Nan, ShanDong Province, one of the biggest industry players for advanced technology manufacturing sector.
Inspur Group is responsible in producing various technological products for China and the rest of the world, including Cloud system, Super Computers, Smart technology, Big Data and data servers.
We were informed that Inspur group has become the largest producer and exporter of such products and technology in China, followed by other well-known producers such as Lenovo.
For Malaysia to project itself to be a technologically advanced nation, there must be efforts to integrate latest technology into citizens’ daily life. For example, the concept of smart city can be materialised by technology such as smart traffic light and smart surveillance system, supported by Big Data and Cloud system. This can be part of the process for a better governance system.
The same goes to e-system in government bodies. Technology makes lives of ordinary citizens easier, not the other way round. Hence, as more and more phone applications and systems are being invented, the government should find a way to encourage a way to consolidate the data and functions across all platforms to streamline the way citizens interact with technology.
As Malaysia embarks on the journey of digitisation and digitalisation, with the vision that all citizens are equipped with readiness to embrace technology, the government should open its arm for the possibility of collaborating with players that are well known internationally in order to assimilate the same into Malaysia’s ecosystem of advanced technology.
Such aspiration is particularly shared by the state government of Melaka as Melaka is constantly exploring its potentials to become a digitalised city by leveraging on Smart technology, IoT applications and Big Data etc. Melaka is prepared to be the one of the pioneer states for such technologies.
The DAP delegation consists of state EXCOs, members of parliament and state assemblymen. They are: Tan Hong Pin (Johor State EXCO), Kerk Chee Yee (Melaka State EXCO), Fong Kui Lun (MP for Bukit Bintang), Wong ShuQi (MP for Kluang), Lim Lip Eng (MP for Kepong), Thomas Su Keong Siong (MP for Kampar), Alice Lau Kiong Yan (MP for Lanang), Ean Yong Hian Wah (Selangor state assemblyman) and Ronnie Liu Tian Khiew (Selangor state assemblyman).
