I would like to draw attention to the BN campaign banner of “Undilah Barisan Nasional untuk Kemajuan, Perpaduan, Kemakmuran dan Autonomi Negeri Sarawak” located near Kampung Kiding.
It is nothing short of a joke that BN would even place such a banner there when it was DAP through our ‘Impian Sarawak’ programme that built the road there in 2014 after it had been neglected by the BN all these years.
In May 2014, the upgrading works took place for two months to build a 4-wheel drive compatible road where villagers could ride their motorbikes or other vehicles to deliver goods and send their children to school.
This 3km route was also fitted with two connecting bridges and seven culverts. The total cost was RM140,000. The total number of families that benefitted from this project was 80. The DAP’s Impian team together with the villagers and 53 volunteers from all over Malaysia who paid for their own expenses did what the BN could not do even though they have been in government since independence.
We have heard recently that BN has promised to build new roads as part of their election pledges. However we would like to ask the BN if they would carry out the same projects even if they were to lose in this constituency. Are they genuine in their desire to serve the people or will their promises turn out to be empty ones again?
