Prime Minister should not visit to Tawau with empty handed

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak should not visit to Tawau this Sunday with empty handed. I challenge Najib to announce various of “goodies” if he wants to gain the support not only from the UMNO Sabah members, but also the general public of Sabah.

UMNO will organise a solidarity gathering on 10th May, which is targeting for 30,000 crowd to show support for Najib amidst his feud with former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamad.

What a wasting of money if the lavish event does not bring any goodies to the rakyat? Tawau specifically and Sabah generally has so many problems need the resources and allocation by Federal Government to address with.

The results of the Rompin and Permatang Pauh parliamentary by elections, are not the good news for Najib, prior to his attendance here to woo UMNO Sabah support.

BN’s reduced majority votes in the Rompin by election with 6% magnitude, and it’s failure to wrest Permatang Pauh, amidst the toughest time for opposition with Anwar sentenced in jail and PAS’s Hudud issue resulted a fractured PR, are seen as a wake up call for Najib. He needs to do more to defend his position as UMNO Chairman and Prime Minister.

This is the best timing for Tawau people to make demand publicly.

UMNO Sabah leaders should know better how to make use of the opportunity. As Najib said this before: you help me, I help you.

As the people representative of Sri Tanjong, Tawau, hereby I appeal to Najib to get all these projects in the 11th Malaysia Plan and hopefully all of the projects completed before the next General Election. A public market turned Urban Transition Centre (UTC) alone can’t win the heart of the people of Tawau.

The projects are as the following:

  1. Construction of Coastal highway from Kg Titingan to Tinagat
  2. Expediting flood mitigation plan project
  3. Expediting Cinta Mata water dam project
  4. Constructing a new anchor power plant in Tawau as East Coast of Sabah has -30% of power reserves
  5. Upgrading internet connectivity in Tawau
  6. Constructing a new solid waste management plant in Tawau
  7. Increasing numbers of police in Tawau to combat crime
  8. Upgrading of Tawau hospital facility including carpark and increase numbers of medical staff there
  9. Constructing a new multi storey car park beside Tanjong Market and the newly announced UTC
  10. Dredging and upgrading facilities of Tawau port

I hope the organising chairman for the rally who is MP for Kalabakan Datuk Seri Ghapur Salleh would agree to my list of demand and will put it forward to Prime Minister. Let’s make it a good news for Tawau people when Najib announce it during the rally.”
