This is the second time I received a call from Johor Selatan Police District Headquarters trying to meet me to record a statement on my alleged presence at a BERSIH event at MPJBT Square.
Today’s call is by an Inspector Adilah. I told her I am in the midst of preparing a speech on the tragedy at Hospital Sultanah Aminah and if she really wants to meet me she would have to travel to Parliament to meet me at Parliament.
But I also told her to inform her superior, especially the OCPD, that I was never present at the said event and the police could just verify with the Special Branch’s video.
There is no point for the police to waste time on acting on a police report dated 1st October 2016 which named me.
More importantly, it is a complete waste of time of police resources to investigate BERSIH participants just to harass them. It is important to note that the investigators are from Criminal Investigation Department which are already short-handed and I sincerely sympathise with them having to also investigate political cases which shall not have been their brief in the first place.
I call on the Police to stop intimidating and harassing BERSIH participants.
