Stop MCA from winning to stop UMNO, MCA and PAS from dividing the people with their hate politics of racism and religious extremism to cover up MCA’s support for the GST, the 1MDB-related scandals, the RM35.25 billion GST and income tax refunds scandals

DAP and Pakatan Harapan urge Balakong voters to stop MCA from winning the by-election on 8 September by ensuring victory for our candidate Wong Seqi to stop UMNO, MCA and PAS from dividing the people with their hate politics of racism and religious extremism to cover-up MCA’s support of the GST, the 1MDB related scandals, the RM35.25 billion GST and income tax refunds scandal.

Further, MCA is not deserving of support when on the one hand it takes a Chinese chauvinistic position of only fighting for one community by accusing me of betraying the Chinese community when I stressed that as the Finance Minister, I am Malaysian First, Chinese second. On the other hand, MCA is willing to betray the people by not only continuing to support a racist UMNO but also co-operate with an extremist party like PAS that sows hostility towards non-Muslims and non-Malays.

The new Pakatan Harapan Federal Government takes a different approach from this racial and religious extremism, stressing on uniting the people of all races and religions as part of Bangsa Malaysia. DAP is contesting under the Pakatan Harapan banner for the first time, because Pakatan Harapan represents this concept of Bangsa Malaysia, a Malaysia that belongs to all where we solve our problems together so that we can enjoy the benefits together as one big family. PH seeks to unite and build whilst MCA, UMNO and PAS only seeks to divide and destroy.

Pakatan Harapan is vigorously bringing to justice those involved in the financial scandals that has caused our Federal Government’s debt to balloon to more than RM1 trillion, adversely affecting the economic well-being of the rakyat. To restore the economic well-being of the rakyat and reduce the cost of living, Pakatan Harapan has replaced the GST with the SST.

UMNO secretary-general Tan Sri Annuar Musa is so confident that the SST will only spell a “major disaster” for Pakatan Harapan, because rising prices of goods will occur in less than two years of the implementation of SST. Does UMNO and its BN component party, MCA, wants to bring back the GST?

For 2019, GST collects RM 44 billion as compared to only RM 21 billon for SST, a tax shortfall of RM23 billion which is returned as a gift to the people of Malaysia. By returning RM23 billion back to the people, we hope to improve the people’s economic well-being. The impact of price rises, if any, will only be less than half of the price rises of GST. And yet UMNO and MCA portrays the SST as worse than the GST. This is untrue and dishonest.

Let us unite under Pakatan Harapan as one nation, one party and one citizenship fighting for Malays, Chinese, Indians, Ibans and Kadazans by rejecting a chauvinistic party that fights only for one race and yet is working with a racist and extremist party that is hostile to non-Malays or non-Muslims. Let us support Pakatan Harapan’s fight for a clean Malaysia, a free Malaysia, a fair and just Malaysia, a democratic Malaysia, an honourable Malaysia bonded by respect for rule of law and reject a party that has led Malaysia to oppression, injustice, corruption until Malaysia is infamous as a global kleptocracy.

Let us support not only our Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, his chosen successor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Tun’s appointment of me as Finance Minister. Also to support Tun’s appointments of five other DAP leaders as Ministers, Gobind Singh Deo, Anthony Loke, Teresa Kok, M. Kula and Yeo Bee Yin, Sdr Tan Kok Wai as Malaysia’s Special Envoy to China and Nga Kor Ming as Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker.
