The Penang State Government’s vision is seeking to establish a Green State that is safe and clean which harnesses green technology. Protecting the environment would also help make Penang a location of choice for investors, destination of choice for tourists and habitat of choice for residents who desire sustainable living. This is part of our efforts in the branding of Penang that is synonymous with quality, reliability, safety, sustainability and integrity.
To improve water quality in polluted waterways, the Penang State Government is relying on iQPR Technology. iQPR Technology, has been introduced since 2010 at Sungai Pinang to improve the water quality from Class IV (very dirty) to Class III and II (clean) during a trial project carried out by the Department of Irrigation and Drainage (DID) under the “One State One River” program. In this project it was observed that the water quality improved significantly, where black sludge and bad odour in the river were also eliminated.
We have taken a bold step by awarding a 3 year contract for RM5.8 million to Infinite Acquisitions Sdn Bhd, supported by its technical partner STS Solutions Sdn Bhd, the provider of iQPR Technology, to continue to treat and maintain the water quality at Class II level.
iQPR Technology which was developed by a Penangite, is a green technology which uses natural mineral water as its base, where no chemicals or microbes are added. Combined with a quantum physics- based high technology process, many formulated functional water can be produced to address the pollution in water and soil.
The application of this technology is simple and cost effective. It does not require costly infrastructural changes. iQPR formulated water is introduced into various points along the river to influence the change in the water body, improve water quality, eliminate foul odor and rejuvenate the eco-system for healthy environment.

Apart from river and lake rehabilitation, this technology has also been applied successfully in other sectors such as industrial wastewater treatment, sewage treatment, agriculture, aquaculture, and livestock farming as well.
While the government is committed to cleaning the river and improving the environment, cooperation from the people is crucial to ensure sustainable success. Dumping of solid waste and throwing garbage indiscriminately into the drain and river MUST STOP. Such irresponsible and unhealthy habit MUST CHANGE. We must learn to CARE AND LOVE our rivers. As a continuing effort, the state government is looking into using iQPR Technology to clean other polluted rivers and water bodies in Penang. We hope that the Federal government will be able to support in funding this initiative.
