On 31 August 1957, the Federation of Malaya declared our independence from our foreign colonial power and on 16 September 1963, we formed Malaysia with our counterparts from Sabah and Sarawak. Malaysians stood proud to be a new sovereign nation where her citizens are able to chart their own goals, dreams and destinies.
However, Malaysia’s independence is now under threat and her citizens face the risk of a newfound imperialism by a unknown and mysterious Arab power. In the past, the people of Malaya and Borneo were kept under a leash via the military force of the British. Today, Malaysia’s vision and policies are influenced by obscene amounts of foreign money funding our ruling political party.
Senior UMNO leader and Minister Dato’ Seri Nazri Aziz found “nothing wrong” that the Prime Minister personally accepted a secret RM2.6 billion donation in the latter’s private bank account from a “brotherly” Arab nation.
He shamelessly admitted that the so-called ‘donation’ was “to see certain parties win in the general election because we are friendly to them”.
The above confirmed without a doubt that Malaysia’s sovereign status is under threat as our ruling party and its leaders have become compromised by secret foreign funds. The marginal victory Barisan Nasional received in 2013 proved further that a foreign country has directly and decisively determined the outcome of our country’s election.
Newly promoted Deputy Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Zahid Hamidi further elaborated, truthfully or otherwise, that the Arab nation was helping BN because of the government’s commitment to counter terrorism and maintain Malaysia’s status as a Sunni country.
“Malaysia has Pota, the penal code, Sosma. We are a moderate nation, we don’t want terrorists, so they appreciate our commitment,” Zahid said, referring to the Prevention of Terrorism Act and the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012.
Regardless of the fact that the Pota and the relevant amendments to the Sosma were only tabled this year exposed the Deputy Prime Minister talking thrash, his justification demonstrated how Barisan Nasional is unable to differentiate between the government’s money, and its own.
If the Arabs do indeed appreciate the country’s efforts to counter terrorism and are keen to contribute to the cause as claimed, then the foreign aid must go into the Government’s coffers and not be secretly deposited into the private bank account of the Prime Minister! Just as we used to receive aid from the Europeans, the United States and the Japanese, the money would belong to all Malaysians, and not to Dato’ Seri Najib Razak or UMNO.
When such obscene sums are “donated” into the personal bank account of the Prime Minister and/or the ruling party UMNO under such suspicious and clandestine manner, then our political leaders have been severely compromised. Regardless of the cause or excuses provided, it becomes a bribe to our local politicians to pander to the interest of the foreign power.
In the light of the Merdeka and Malaysia Day celebrations, we must demand that our stolen independence be returned to us. Malaysians must reclaim the country from the hands of those who have connived with foreign powers to sacrifice our sovereignty. Malaysians must be allowed to chart our own future and destiny by Malaysians alone, with our own sweat and money. We must never be subjected to any foreign influence and sell our soul at the expense of our national interest.
Hence come 29 and 30 August 2015, I will march the streets peacefully together with hundreds of thousands of fellow Malaysians not only to celebrate Merdeka, but to defend the spirit of Merdeka our forefathers had fought so hard for in 1957 and 1963.
