In 1986, I came to Penang to urge the people of Penang to be the front-line state in Malaysia for change and development in Malaysia.
Today, Penang has the highest GDP per capita of all states, while Kelantan has the lowest – some four times less in Kelantan as compared to Penang.
Today, I call on the people of Penang to lead in a national movement to save Malaysia so that the country can rise up again to become a great world-class nation.
There is no reason why Malaysia should continue to lose out to other nations.
We have lost out to Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong, South Korea and Vietnam.
Are we to continue to lose out to other countries, to Thailand, Indonesia, China and India?
This is what the six state polls this Saturday on August 12 is all about, and I call on the voters of Penang to tell political parties and political leaders what they want.
So far, not a single Perikatan Nasional (PN) leader, whether from PAS or Bersatu, has addressed this problem of Malaysia in national decline in the last few decades.
What plans have PAS and Bersatu to stop the national decline, so that Malaysia can rise up again to become a great world-class nation?
Of does PAS and Bersatu have no objection of Malaysia ending up during Malaysia’s Centennial in 2057 as a failed, divided and corrupt state like Sri Lanka?
It is not an easy task for Malaysia rise up again and become a great world0-class nation.
The Prime Minister, Anwar Ibrahim, has plans for Malaysia to rise up again and become a great world-class nation. In his Ekonomi Madani, Anwar envisaged the following objectives:
- Top 30 biggest economies in the world in terms of nominal gross domestic products. Malaysia currently ranks 35.
- Top 12 in IMD World Competitive Index. The current rank is 27.
- Top 25 in the UN Human Development Index. Current rank is 62.
- Top 25 in the Transparency International (TI) Corruption Perception Index (CPI). Current rank is 61.
Has PN a better plan than Ekonomi Madani?
So far, the PN of PAS and Bersatu has been thunderingly silent on these issues.
Have they no plans to make Malaysia rise up and become a great world-class nation?
