DAP condemns Kota Bharu Umno in the strongest possible terms for torching effigies of DAP Secretary-General cum Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng and DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang.

Tomorrow is the International Day of Democracy. It is unfortunate for the nation that Umno being the biggest political party in Malaysia has resorted to such an uncivilized and barbaric method to express themselves.

Even though Kota Bharu Umno chief Mohd Fatmi Che Salleh has stressed that he did not set the effigies alight in the event, but the video has shown that the torching was pre-arranged and planned.

Prime Minsiter Najib Razak being the President of Umno must state his views on this incident and take action against Kota Bharu Umno. Does he agree with this type of “demo-crazy”?

At the same time, we want to see action by our IGP. The police previously offered a reward for information leading to the successful arrest of individuals involved in the stomping of a photo depicting Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and PAS President Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang at the Bersih 4 rally. What done by Kota Bharu Umno is far worse than stomping pictures. So may I know if the IGP is going to take any actions against the thugs?
