Make August 12 the beginning of a new era – for Malaysia to rise up again to become a great world-class nation

I am 82 years old. A few days ago, I fell in my house and I walk with a limp.

I am not a candidate in the six state polls on August 12 but I am as busy as any candidate, visiting the three states of Selangor, Penang, and Negeri Sembilan and will visit Kedah where the DAP is contesting in two state constituencies because Malaysians must not miss the opportunity to end the national decline in the past few decades and rise up again to be a great world-class nation, starting on Saturday, August 12.

I have visited nine state constituencies in Penang, 12 DAP constituencies and one UMNO constituency in Selangor and three DAP constituencies in Negeri Sembilan.

At the end of this month is the 66th National Day celebration and on Sept. 16 the 60th Malaysia Day celebrations.

Let us make the 66th National Day celebrations and the 60th Malaysia Day celebrations the most meaningful celebrations in the nation’s history, because on August 12, 2023 the nation has stopped the national decline in the last few decades and Malaysia is set to rise up again to become a great world-class nation.

Various speakers have explained the importance of the six state polls this Saturday for Bagan Dalam constituency and Penang state.

I am going to talk about the importance of the six state polls for Malaysia.

Perikatan Nasional (PN) of PAS and Bersatu do not want Malaysia to rise up and to become a great world-class nation. They have no plans nor do they mind if Malaysia end up as a divided, failed and corrupt state in the coming decades.

It took three UMNO Prime Ministers and 22 years from 1995 to 2021 to drop from the inaugural Transparency International (TI) Corruption Perception Index (CP) 1995 ranking of 23 out of 41 countries to 62 out of 180 countries in 2017, but it took Muhyiddin 10 months from March 1 to Dec. 31, 2020 to drop from 51st ranking in 2019 to 62nd ranking in 2020 after he toppled the Pakatan Harapan government with the infamous Sheraton Move political conspiracy.

This is in fact the worst record of Muhyiddin as the “backdoor” Prime Minister of Malaysia.

He had two “black marks” as the “backdoor” Prime Minister – his unconstitutional suspension of Parliament for six months to allow corruption and abuses of power to hold run riot without parliamentary scrutiny and the dismal fall of Malaysia in TI CPI 2020 to 62nd ranking in 10 months of premiership.

With these two “black marks”, it is shocking that Muhyiddin wants to be Prime Minister again.

But he has a third “black mark”.

Like Hadi Awang, Muhyiddin is not concerned about Malaysia‘s national decline in the last few decades and has no plan for Malaysia to rise again to become a great world-class nation.

Even worse, PN does not mind if Penang as well as Selangor and Negri Sembilan regress to become as poor and undeveloped as Kelantan, when the PH/BN coalition want Kelantan to be as developed and well-off as Penang.

Anwar Ibrahim is the only Prime Minister in the 21st century who has plans for Malaysia to rise up again to become a great world-class nation. In his Ekonomi Madani, Anwar has promised various objectives, like :

  • Top 30 biggest economies in the world in terms of nominal gross domestic products. Malaysia currently ranks 35.
  • Top 12 in IMD World Competitive Index. The current rank is 27.
  • Top 25 in the UN Human Development Index. Current rank is 62.
  • Top 25 in the Transparency International (TI) Corruption Perception Index (CPI). Current rank is 61.

Perikatan Nasional (PN) of PAS and Bersatu want to go back 500 years and deny the other races and religions their rightful place under the Malaysian sun.

They should learn from the founding fathers like the first three Prime Ministers of Malaysia and who were also UMNO Presidents, Tunku Abdul Rahman, Tun Razak, and Tun Hussein Onn who accept Malayia as a plural nation of many races, languages, religions, and cultures.

Rukun Negara and Vision 2020 are for a plural Malaysia.

Malaysia can only succeed as a great world-class nation if there are two pre-conditions — political stability and the unity of Malaysians, regardless of race, religion or region.

PN leaders now argue that the Malaysian Constitution is not for a plural Malaysia.

It is PN which is going against the Malaysian Constitution which was conceived by the founding fathers like Tunku, Tun Razak, Tun Hussein Onn and Tun Ismail for a plural Malaysia.

The voters of the six state polls should make August 12 the beginning of a new era in Malaysia – the start of Malaysia to rise up again to become a great world-class nation. Every vote counts and there should be no split voters or no voting, as it can affect whether
DAP candidates can win or not.
