Kepala Batas MP Dr. Siti Mastura Muhammad has come under intense scrutiny from netizens for making audacious and unfounded claims against two prominent political figures, Lim Kit Siang and Lim Guan Eng. The allegations, which suggest that both Lim Kit Siang and Lim Guan Eng are related to Communist leader Chin Peng and former PM of Singapore Lee Kuan Yew, have ignited a firestorm of criticism and disbelief.
She also claimed that Guan Eng and his father, Kit Siang, have family ties with many DAP leaders, including Anthony Loke, Nga Kor Ming, Teresa Kok, and Ngeh Koo Ham.
Many netizens have rallied in support of the DAP National Chairman, urging him to take legal action against the PAS Member of Parliament. They argue that baseless allegations like these not only tarnish the reputations of political figures but also diminish the quality of political discourse in Malaysia. Moreover, netizens have expressed their weariness with PAS’s relentless stream of unfounded allegations against the DAP, highlighting the need for a more substantive and respectful political dialogue.
One Twitter user with the handle @ooijohn posted a tweet that captured the sentiment: “This cannot be tolerated. Take her to the cleaners.”
Others condemned the PAS MP for her unprofessional conduct of spreading obvious lies as a part of a political strategy, instead of focusing on championing the rights of the people.
@adil_benar2020 wrote on twitter: “When people elect Members of Parliament, it’s with the expectation that MPs will diligently serve their constituents. However, we often see them sidetracked by unrelated matters. If MPs can’t prioritize the welfare of the people, it raises questions about their effectiveness.”
Netizens didn’t hold back in poking fun at Dr. Siti Mastura for her mispronunciation of Lee Kuan Yew’s name, as she referred to him as “Lim Kuan Yew” during an election campaign on Nov 4 for Kemaman by-election.
User @SaifulAdn tweeted: “This PAS-produced PhD holder is really something else. She casually changed someone’s surname from Lee to Lim.”
DAP has been a recurrent target of slander by PAS, with accusations of communism used as a scare tactic to sway voters. This smear campaign has persisted for decades.
In the past, Lim Kit Siang found himself compelled to respond to absurd allegations that he was born in China.
Despite being given a 48-hour window to substantiate her claims, Dr. Siti Mastura failed to furnish any explanation or evidence to support her allegations. This has prompted DAP reps to file a police report against her.
