The Democratic Action Party (DAP) stands in solidarity with Move Forward Party of Thailand, facing unjust threat of dissolution for allegedly aiming to undermine the monarchy through their efforts to reform the lese majeste law. It is a troubling and unjust situation for any political party to be forced into such a position and being targeted and potentially dissolved for exercising their right.
The move by the Thai Election Commission to request the dissolution of the party is a blatant attack on democracy and sets a dangerous precedent for the silencing of dissenting voices. The ongoing case in the Constitutional Court not only jeopardizes the party’s existence but also restricts its leaders from participating in elections for a decade.
The Move Forward Party has been vocal in advocating for reform and challenging the status quo in Thailand, and it is clear that they are being targeted for their progressive and bold stance on crucial issues. We denounce the abuse of power and urge the authorities to uphold democratic.
We stand with the Move Forward Party and all those who are fighting against oppressive measures to silence dissent and we offer our support and encouragement during this challenging time. We call on the Thai authorities to uphold the rule of law and protect the rights of political parties to operate without fear of persecution or dissolution.
