Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal took to social media to criticise Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh for taking a photo with Thailand badminton player Kunlavut Vitidsarn and admitted to being a fan of him.
Wan Ahmad Fayhsal should not bring the politics of toxicity and hatred into sports by condemning Hannah Yeoh. There is absolutely nothing wrong in taking a photo and being a fan of a foreign sports player.
There are many more Malaysians who have supported foreign football clubs and foreign national football team but this does not mean Malaysians do not care and support Malaysian football clubs and our National football team.
The Olympic Spirit emphasizes mutual understanding with a spirit of friendship, solidarity and fair play. I urge Wan Ahmad Fayhsal to leave out his politics of hatred, toxic and animosity of the sports game and do not divide Malaysians by politicising such trivial issues.
Let Malaysians enjoy the Olympic Games and give our full support to our athletesto bring home Malaysia first ever Olympic Gold medal.
