I am glad to receive a courtesy call from H.E. Wang Jiangping, Vice Minister for Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China and his delegation, at MITI.
China remains an important trading partner for Malaysia, and Malaysia continues to be a preferred investment destination for Chinese firms. I expressed my hope that Chinese companies will adopt a long-term approach when investing here, including the establishment of R&D centers and regional headquarters.
During our meeting, we discussed deepening of collaboration in strategic sectors such as iron and steel, new energy vehicles, solar PV, and semiconductors, which will allow both nations to achieve greater economic growth in the current global trade trends.
Liew Chin Tong
Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry
