Yesterday, the inaugural Mental Health Day Run 2024 took place at SJK Chung Hua Bau, uniting approximately 500 participants in a heartfelt commitment to mental health awareness and community well-being.

As a Member of Parliament for Mas Gading, I am pleased to have contributed RM20,000 through the Bau Care Welfare Association to support this initiative. This contribution will help sustain the association’s annual programs and activities, reaffirming our shared commitment to bolstering mental health resources and promoting healthier lifestyles within our community.

The Mental Health Day Run went beyond being a simple race. In collaboration with the Ministry of Health, participants received free health screenings to assess their physical and mental well-being. Additional services like free pap smears, a blood donation drive, and dental check-ups were offered. Informational booths were also available, featuring organizations such as Manna Dental Clinic, OAPTAR (The Organisation for Addiction Prevention, Treatment, and Rehabilitation), the MCR (Malaysian Red Crescent Society), MAYBANK, ETIQA Insurance, AMANITA (Peace Lady – PDRM), PERKESO (Social Security Organization), MYSALAM (National Health Protection Scheme), PVATM (Malaysian Armed Forces Veterans Association), and the JKM (Malaysia Welfare Department).

The event also provided an opportunity for local vendors to participate, fostering community involvement and support for small businesses.

During my speech, I called on everyone to participate in open dialogues about mental health, highlighting the necessity of overcoming the stigmas that often discourage individuals from seeking help. By joining forces, we can cultivate an environment where mental health is acknowledged as a significant issue that must be addressed.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our generous sponsors and Micklong Bridal Studio. Your contributions played a vital role in the success of our event and helped us achieve our goals and we greatly appreciate your contributions.
