Anthony Loke chairs 30th ASEAN Transport Ministers Meeting, deepens regional cooperation between neighbours

Sdr Anthony Loke as Transport Minister of Malaysia chaired the 30th ASEAN Transport Ministers Meeting where delegations from China, South Korea and Brunei were present. The meeting involved conversations surrounding adopted efforts to deepen regional cooperation in aviation, maritime and land transport.

Under the Kuala Lumpur Transport Strategic Plan 2016-2025, we have made remarkable strides. From regional policies on sustainable air and maritime transport to cutting-edge logistics solutions, we are laying the foundation for a future where every ASEAN citizen benefits from seamless connectivity.

In Sdr Loke’s opening speech during the meeting, he reflected on the ASEAN journey thus far. He mentions that the theme for this meeting which is ‘ASEAN: Enhancing Connectivity and Resilience’ captures the essence of ASEAN’s shared mission.

Together, we have faced challenges that tested our resolve—from the complexities of global trade to the urgent need for sustainable development.

He also notes as Chair of 2024’s ASEAN Senior Transport Officials and Ministers Meetings, Malaysia envisions renewed commitments to the wide array of ASEAN transport initiatives and other areas of innovation.
