I, as the representative for Kota Kemuning, wish to express my disappointment with the actions of the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS), which continues to sow seeds of division and misunderstanding among Malaysians. The rally held today in Kampung Baru, Kuala Lumpur, is yet another example of how PAS chooses to exploit religious issues for their narrow political agenda.
Their accusations against the Minister of Housing and Local Government, YB Nga Kor Ming, and the Minister of Youth and Sports, YB Hannah Yeoh, allegedly attempting to Christianize Malaysia, are baseless and malicious. Every rational Malaysian knows that celebrations such as Christmas are not an attempt to propagate religion but rather a form of respect for the country’s cultural diversity. PAS seems to be suffering from “political schizophrenia,” creating enemies where none exist and forcing our society to believe their false narratives.
Such actions not only tarnish PAS’s reputation but also challenge the very foundations that have shaped Malaysia as a multi-ethnic and multi-religious nation. Malaysians are tired of divisive politics that only serve to instill fear and manipulate people. We need leaders who are responsible and mature, not those who use religious issues as tools to gain political popularity.
As a representative of the people, I urge all Malaysians to reject any form of extremism that seeks to divide us. Malaysia is home to all its citizens, regardless of race or religion. Actions like these should have no place in our society.
To PAS, I wish to remind you: stop eroding the trust of the people in you. If you truly wish to be a party respected by all, cease this dangerous rhetoric. Stop weaponizing religion for political gain. Focus instead on real issues that benefit the people.
Malaysia does not need more division. What we need is unity.
