1. I am honoured that the Malaysia Pickleball Association (MPA) has appointed me as one of their advisors. This appointment aligns with my aspiration to promote pickleball and lead strategic efforts to grow the sport nationwide, particularly at the grassroots level.
2. The appointment was officially presented by the MPA Committee Members and State Association representatives, led by Acting President Ms. Delima Ibrahim. In this role, I will advise on governance, structural frameworks, and strategic policies to ensure the sport meets international standards and achieves sustainable growth.
3. Over recent months, MPA has been working closely with the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and other relevant bodies to integrate pickleball into Malaysia’s sports ecosystem. The vision is clear: to establish pickleball as a mainstream sport and eventually secure its inclusion in national and international games—creating new medal opportunities for Malaysia.
4. This effort comes at a time when the sport is experiencing unprecedented growth. In the Klang Valley alone, Q1 2025 recorded over 40,000 court bookings every month, while the Reclub app reports more than 150,000 active pickleball players across Malaysia per week, this figure only counted those who are using the app, and there are more who are not using the app.
5. These figures reflect the urgent need to bring pickleball to the grassroots level, ensuring accessibility, structured development, and pathways for talent identification.
6. Pickleball is no longer just a trend; it is a fast-growing sport that Malaysians are embracing at record levels. The demand is clear, and our focus will be on building the foundation for long-term success.”
