The MIC’s decision to hold special prayers for Najib Razak at Batu Caves is an unfortunate misuse of a holy site deeply revered by the Hindu community. Batu Caves is a sacred space for worship and cultural preservation—not a stage for political rehabilitation or partisan agendas.
Indian Malaysians are tired of being used as political pawns. While the community faces challenges such as access to quality education, economic opportunities, and equitable representation, MIC’s focus remains on political theatrics that do nothing to address these pressing issues.
This act shows MIC’s detachment from the real concerns of the people they claim to represent. Instead of organizing prayer sessions for convicted individuals, they should be prioritizing efforts to uplift the Indian community, especially the underprivileged, who are struggling with rising costs and systemic inequalities.
The Indian community deserves leadership that genuinely advocates for their rights and future, not leaders who politicize religion for their own gain. Batu Caves is a sacred symbol of faith and unity, and it must not be exploited for divisive and self-serving agendas.
