I am pleased to announce that the concerns surrounding the Dewi Sri Pathrakaliamman Temple at Jalan Masjid India, Kuala Lumpur, have been resolved amicably through constructive dialogue, mutual understanding, and cooperation from all parties involved.

This resolution was achieved thanks to the responsible and pragmatic approach taken by the temple committee. Their commitment to engaging in constructive discussions ensured a peaceful outcome, reinforcing the importance of dialogue and collaboration in addressing sensitive issues. I strongly advocate for such amicable solutions rather than confrontational approaches, as understanding and mutual respect are essential in preserving harmony in our society.

I extend my deepest appreciation to YBM Gobind Singh Deo for his decisive leadership and prompt action in facilitating a series of discussions involving all relevant stakeholders. With the invaluable support of YB P. Prabakaran, a solution was reached whereby a new 4,000 sq ft site, located less than 50 meters from the existing temple, has been secured and will be gazetted under the temple committee’s name. This ensures the temple’s legal status and continuity for future generations.

I would also like to express my gratitude to Dato’ Ambiga Sreenevasan for her unwavering support and guidance throughout this process.

A Lesson in Unity and Respect
This resolution serves as a testament to what can be achieved when issues are approached with patience, mutual respect, and a commitment to unity. We have, in the past, witnessed racial tensions escalate over similar matters. However, this case demonstrates that with the right approach, we can foster peace, unity, and cooperation among all communities.

Unfortunately, it is disheartening to observe, particularly on social media, that Malaysians are losing their sense of brotherhood and tolerance. Instead of promoting division and hostility, we must encourage respect and understanding among people of all races and faiths. A harmonious and united society is the foundation of a prosperous nation.

The Need for a Governing Body for Temples
As an Indian and a law-abiding citizen, I firmly believe that all places of worship must adhere to legal frameworks. No religious structure should be erected without proper authorization, as doing so can lead to unnecessary conflicts.

To prevent similar issues in the future, I strongly urge the government to establish a governing body to oversee temples and religious institutions. Such a body would not only provide guidance and governance but also ensure that places of worship adhere to strict legal and administrative regulations, thereby preventing disputes over land ownership and legality.

Acknowledgment and Appreciation
I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to our Prime Minister, YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Datuk Seri Dr. Zaliha Mustafa, YB P. Prabakaran, Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Seri Maimunah Mohd Sharif, and the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) team for their dedication and commitment in ensuring a just and fair resolution.

It is noteworthy that under the Madani Government, the temple has now secured legal land ownership, guaranteeing its future and providing peace of mind to its devotees.

Finally, I thank the temple committee, the authorities, and the community for their patience, cooperation, and willingness to find a solution through peaceful means. This resolution stands as a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we work together in the spirit of unity, peace, and understanding.

Moving Forward Together
Let this be a guiding example for the future. We must continue to uphold the values of respect, tolerance, and harmony, ensuring that Malaysia remains a nation where all faiths and cultures coexist peacefully.
