FLYsiswa subsidy increased to RM400 next year, expected to benefit 60,000 students

The subsidy increase in the FLYsiswa flight ticket initiative from RM300 to RM400 per person starting from 1st January is expected to benefit 60,000 students using domestic routes involving Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah, Sarawak and the Federal Territory of Labuan.

he Ministry of Transport (MOT) spearheaded by Sdr Anthony Loke informed all students from public universities, polytechnics, and community colleges under the Ministry of Higher Education as well as matriculation colleges and teacher training institutes under the Ministry of Education to check their eligibility through the link https://subsidiudara.mot.gov.my starting from that date.

Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced the subsidy increase for the initiative at the FLYsiswa Carnival 2024 and Siswa Madani Transport Carnival yesterday.

โ€œAdditionally, the state governments of Sabah and Sarawak are offering an extra RM600, enabling eligible students to receive up to RM1,000 per year,โ€ Sdr Loke told reporters at a press conference after officiating the carnival.

The implementation of FLYsiswa and until 10th December a total of 74,500 students or 73% of the total 102,150 students had benefitted from the subsidy assistance.

The FLYsiswa intiative is a manifestation of the government’s efforts in ensuring that the cost of living issue faced by students is addressed in with the aspirations of MADANI and strengthening the relationship between Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah, Sarawak, as well as Labuan.
