Howard Lee Urges PAS and PN to Disavow MP’s Cultural Provocation Immediately

I call upon PAS leadership, the Majlis Syura Ulama, and the entire Perikatan Nasional leadership to take immediate and unequivocal action against Datuk Ahmad Marzuk Shaary, MP for Pengakalan Chepa for his recklessly seditious, inflammatory and utterly irresponsible remarks likening Malaysia’s multi-ethnic society to the tragedy of Palestine under the genocidal occupation of Zionist Israel.

He claims that non-Muslims and non-Bumiputeras now dominate major corporations and strategic assets have long slipped away from the grasp of the Muslim community.

He accuses non Bumi and non Muslim of slowly reshaping political power, and are writing writing new chapter of Palestinian histiry on Malaysian soil.

If PAS as a party agrees with his words, then Malaysians will take your silence as confirmation that you share his belief — that non-Muslims in this country are somehow analogous to Zionist occupiers.

But if PAS disagrees, then it must order Datuk Ahmad Marzuk to publicly apologise to all Malaysians. The same moral demand applies to Bersatu, Gerakan and every PN component party. Either repudiate his words, or stand condemned for complicity.

Using the Suffering of Palestinians in Vain

To invoke the sacred suffering of the Palestinian people — whose oppression is a global wound — as a political metaphor to vilify fellow Malaysians is sacrilege in spirit and sin in essence.

It is a betrayal not only of Islamic values of justice and truth, but also of the human decency that binds all faiths and peoples.

To twist that into a political weapon of fear against Malaysia’s non-Muslims — who are your compatriots, not colonisers — is to mock the very teachings of the faith you claim to defend.

Let us be honest: what Marzuk said was a coded declaration of cultural war against non-Muslims and non-Malays. By comparing Malaysia’s plural society to Palestine’s occupation, he paints his own neighbours as enemies within.

No one should tolerate such seditious provocation that strikes at the heart of national unity, social peace and constitutional order.

This is  incitement under the cloak of religion, a betrayal of Islam’s call for moderation and its Prophet’s example of coexistence.

Malaysia Is a Covenant, Not a Battlefield

Malaysia was founded on a covenant of coexistence — the Federal Constitution. In it, Islam is recognised as the religion of the Federation, but with constitutionally held guarantees of freedom and equality for all citizens.

To say that non-Muslims are “occupiers” in their own homeland is to trample upon that covenant, and to tear at the fabric of our collective amanah as Malaysians.

Marzuk’s words are a smear to Malaysia’s fundamental fabric, and is therefore an absolute threat to our peace, and i demand that the authorities take actions that are commensurate with such.

 Call for Accountability

Therefore, I demand the following:

1. PAS must issue a formal statement clarifying its stand on Marzuk’s remarks.

2. Datuk Ahmad Marzuk Shaary must apologise to all Malaysians for his reckless and divisive rhetoric.

3. Bersatu, Gerakan, and every PN component party must state publicly whether they endorse or repudiate his view. Failure to act is to consent by silence.

 Faith Demands Truth, Not Hatred

As an MP, I stand with every Malaysian — Muslim and non-Muslim — who refuses to let our beloved land be poisoned by lies disguised as faith.

To misuse the name of Palestine is to desecrate humanity. And to sow hatred among Malaysians is not an act of piety — it is an act of betrayal of our Palestinian brothers and sisters’ name and suffering.
