Today marks a pivotal moment for Malaysia’s TVET landscape and our journey towards a highly skilled, technology-driven workforce. The launch of the TVET JTM-Huawei Learning Centre at ILP Kuala Lumpur is more than just the opening of a training facility—it is a game-changer for how we equip our people with cutting-edge digital and telecommunications expertise.

This initiative, born out of a strategic collaboration between Huawei Technologies Malaysia and the Department of Human Resources (JTM) under the Ministry of Skills and Human Resources (KESUMA), follows the Memorandum of Understanding signed during the Malaysia-China Summit in December 2024. It represents a bold step towards integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI), 5G, cloud computing, big data, transmission, and the Internet of Things (IoT) into our TVET ecosystem, aligning Malaysia’s workforce with the demands of the global digital economy.
The first milestone in this partnership—the Microwave Module training program—has already begun, with over 120 participants trained, including telecommunications contractors from across the country. With a target of 1,000 trained professionals by the end of this year, this program is not just about numbers—it’s about producing industry-ready talent with real-world, hands-on experience using state-of-the-art Huawei equipment.
But this is just the beginning. In April, 24 TVET instructors will undergo specialized Microwave and Transmission Courses to obtain Huawei Certified ICT Associate (HCIA) credentials. Once certified, they will play a crucial role in embedding these technologies into our TVET curriculum, ensuring that future generations of students receive the best possible training in digital infrastructure.
Furthermore, discussions are underway to develop a green career track for top-performing TVET graduates, providing them direct access to job opportunities with Huawei’s service partners. This initiative will bridge the gap between training and employment, ensuring that Malaysia’s TVET graduates are not just employable but in demand—both locally and internationally.
Beyond this learning centre, we are also working with Huawei to establish a Proof of Concept (POC) for a Smart Classroom at ILP Pasir Gudang Kampus Senai. With infrastructure already under construction and completion expected by June, this initiative will revolutionize hybrid learning, enhance AI applications in education, and improve digital governance in TVET institutions.
Today is not just about launching a facility—it’s about launching a partnership for a new era for Malaysia’s TVET sector. This initiative will catalyze growth, strengthen industry-education collaboration, and empower our workforce with the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital world. With partners like Huawei, we are making a clear statement: Malaysia is ready to lead, innovate, and compete on the global stage.
Thank you.
