Will UMNO Team Up with Another Opposition Party?

UMNO President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has confirmed that UMNO is teaming up with PAS to hold a rally on 6 January 2025, aimed at freeing Najib Razak. This announcement has raised serious concerns about UMNO’s commitment to the unity government and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s reform agenda.

The key question is: does UMNO prioritise the nation’s progress and welfare, or is it more focused on protecting a convicted individual? Malaysians voted for justice, fairness, and good governance — not for political deals that undermine the rule of law and public trust.

The unity government was formed to ensure stability and progress, yet this rally suggests that some in UMNO may be prioritising personal and political interests. If UMNO can work with PAS to further such agendas, what’s stopping them from aligning with other opposition parties in the future?

Anwar and his administration must take a firm stance against actions that risk politicising the judiciary or eroding confidence in the nation’s legal system. The unity government must prioritise its reform agenda as the cornerstone of the nation’s progress.

Thank you,
